I've stayed here twice now and loved it both times. Beware that it is haunted and while I did not see any ghosts, on my first morning I woke up to whiskers sniffing my hand, which I later found out was the resident ghost cat. On my second visit, upon opening the door to 203 the three of us distinctly smelled lavender, the calling card of another ghost. The smell was gone the second time we entered. For a hotel that is older than your great grandmother, it has been refurbished nicely and the old-style furnishings are a nice touch. The parking is free, the coffee house right next door is amazing, as is Carly, the front desk manager who always seems to be around. This place is a hidden gem.

Came to Placerville for an overnight stay at the Cary House. Karley was both my phone contact and the one who greeted me upon arrival. She is the star of the hotel, so welcoming, kind and considerate. She give good recommendations for a variety of places to eat and had some interesting information on the area as someone born and raised there. It is an old hotel and definitely needs some love at this point in it's life. The room we stayed in overall was a good size and clean.
